Kathleen Salisbury Receives IVMA President\u2019s Award"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dr. S. Kathleen Salisbury, Purdue Veterinary Medicine associate dean for academic affairs, was honored recently by the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association as the recipient of the association\u2019s annual President\u2019s Award.&nbsp; The award recognizes an Indiana veterinarian or citizen who has made exceptional contributions to the association and the veterinary medical profession during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.invma.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IVMA<\/a> president\u2019s term in office. Dr. Salisbury received the award in Noblesville, Indiana, January 30, during the IVMA\u2019s annual Crossroads Veterinary Conference.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The outgoing IVMA president, Dr. Lindsey Hedges (PU DVM 2011) selected Dr. Salisbury for the award.&nbsp; However, Dr. Hedges was unable to attend the ceremony, so the award was presented by Dr. Greg Kurtz (PU DVM \u201982), IVMA past-president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Salisbury earned her DVM degree at the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine before coming to Purdue for a small animal surgery residency.&nbsp; After completing the residency in 1984, she joined the College of Veterinary Medicine faculty and became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.&nbsp; She was appointed chief of small animal surgery in 1988 and later moved into administration, being named associate dean for academic affairs in 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Salisbury is a recognized leader in the field who is passionate about veterinary medical education.\u00a0\u00a0 She has been involved in every major curriculum revision in the college and in 2018, was named a 150th Anniversary Professor by the Office of the Provost in conjunction with the University\u2019s Sesquicentennial. Dr. Salisbury is a member of Purdue\u2019s Book of Great Teachers, a charter member of the Teaching Academy and an honored mentor of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons Foundation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The IVMA President\u2019s Award recognized Dr. Salisbury for her career long commitment to the education and success of Purdue\u2019s veterinary students.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. S.
