Following oral presentations on May 3, a panel of judges selected eight research proposals, including one led by a PVM faculty member, to be funded in response to Purdue’s Integrative Data Science Initiative request for proposals. For this first round, the request, released on March 15, resulted in 52 separate highly competitive proposals addressing data science applications in health care; defense; ethics, society and policy; and fundamentals, methods and algorithms.\u00a0 The submitting proposal teams included 10 of Purdue\u2019s colleges\/schools and involved 172 Purdue faculty from 48 departments.<\/p>\n
