Animal Blood Bank

Just like people, pets sometimes have illness or trauma that requires a blood transfusion. And just like people, healthy pets can also be blood donors! The demand for donations is constantly growing, and we use volunteer blood donor pets from our community to help provide this life-saving resource.  One blood donation can help save up to three different pets. 

Donation Criteria

Help us give the gift of life to patients in need of blood by seeing if your pet might qualify to be a blood donor!

Dogs

Dogs may be eligible if they meet the following criteria:

• 1 –5 years of age
• have a lean body weight of at least 50 pounds
• have no history of previous transfusions
• are systemically healthy

Cats

Cats may be eligible if they meet the following criteria:

• 1 –5 years of age
• have a lean body weight of at least 10 pounds
• are indoor only
• have no history of previous transfusions
• are systemically healthy
