The Purdue Calving School

Due to COVID-19, we will be not be hosting in person events in 2020. Instead we will be posting short videos this fall and spring with helpful tips for the upcoming calving season. Check back often and follow us on social media for updates. Look for us to resume live events in 2021.

The Purdue Calving School offers practical and hands-on experience for beef and dairy producers. Producers attending the School will learn best practices for herd management during calving season and participate in hands-on demonstration from Purdue Veterinary Medicine’s experts.

The Purdue Calving School includes discussions on:

  • Managing dystocias
  • Post-partum cow care
  • Newborn calf management
  • How to assist during calving

Hands on demonstrations of:

  • Use of calving equipment
  • Dystocia simulations with life-sized cow & calf models
  • Use of esophageal feeders
