A Message From Our VTH Director
Welcome to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) at Purdue University. We are honored that you and your referring veterinarian have trusted us to be your animal’s healthcare provider, whether that be as a new or a returning patient.
Our mission is several fold: to provide excellent and compassionate care to all animals entrusted to us; to provide an exceptional learning environment for students, residents, interns, and other professionals; to promote engagement through the free exchange of information and the sharing of knowledge within the VTH and with our constituents (individual animal owners, producers, referring veterinarians, other institutions and collaborators, the general public, and the biomedical community); and to contribute to the discovery of new knowledge through basic and applied research and clinical trials.
The VTH is comprised of a committed group of veterinary clinicians, technicians, educators, researchers, and various support staff, all of which embrace the importance of the Human/Animal bond, and who are dedicated to always do what is best for the animal. We have over 50 veterinarians on staff, most of whom are board certified in their specialty area. Your pet or production animal will be seen by an experienced and knowledgeable veterinary team. These professionals are the best of the best.
We offer two main inpatient facilities along with an ambulatory service. The Small Animal Hospital treats more than 15,000 animals each year and The Large Animal Hospital treats more than 1700 animals each year. Our Ambulatory Service veterinarians will come to your stable or farm to treat horses and food animals in the surrounding counties.
The VTH operates as a fee-for-service enterprise of the College of Veterinary Medicine. Fees generated provide the majority of the hospital’s operating budget, and are reinvested in the hospital to make sure we have a state of the art equipped facility and can continue to offer quality patient care and customer service to those we serve. We are proud of the quality and diversity of the programs offered by the VTH, and the faculty, staff and students who make them possible.
