Information about required English, Animal Science, and Elective courses

A student must complete the following courses to meet the fulfillment of the Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology at Purdue University:

1. Completion of a 3-credit freshman-level college English composition course equivalent to Purdue University's English 101 course.

2. Completion of a 3-credit introduction to animal agriculture class equivalent to Purdue University's ANSC 102 course.

ANSC 101V offered via distance learning at Purdue. Please view the course catalog for details.

3. Completion of 2 credits of an college course either equivalent to a Purdue University course, or accepted by the VAD department (VT-DLP's department) for departmental credit towards the Associate Degree.

To have previously completed college courses considered for these requirements, the student should submit an official college or university transcript to the Office of Credit Evaluation at the Purdue University Office of Admissions (Schleman Hall, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN 47907). NOTE: most of you would already have done this during the Admissions procedure.

The Credit Evaluation section of the Office of Admission will respond to the student with a listing of those Purdue University courses it could match with the courses from the other college.

(e.g. K101 English from Indiana University --> ENGL 101 Purdue University)

For those courses matching Purdue's English 101 or Animal Science 102, credit will be given for those courses towards the Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology.

Courses that do not match Purdue University courses but still meet other criteria for credit transfer (e.g. courses must be "C" level or better), will be listed as "Undistributed Credit". The Credit Evaluation report is sent to the VT-DLP office where the Undistributed Credit courses are evaluated to determine if they meet departmental requirements for the Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology.

Courses will be evaluated by VT-DLP to determine if any meet the departmental criteria for English 101, Animal Science 102, or the 2 credit Elective.

The student will be notified in writing from the VT-DLP office whether additional credit has been applied towards the Associate Degree and to which of the courses above the credit was applied.

Questions regarding Credit Evaluation should be directed to the Office of Admissions:
