The Purdue University Veterinary Technology Program is a competitive admissions program.

 

Degrees offered in the VT program:

Associate of Science Degree (A.S.) program

·         Constitutes the AVMA required clinical courses required for professional licensing

·         70 credit hours of undergraduate education

Bachelor of Science Degree (B.S.) program

·         Includes the Associate Degree curriculum

·         128 credit hours of undergraduate education

 

Admission Requirements

·         AS and BS Degree Applicants (with NO previous veterinary technology education)

o   All applicants are required to submit the Veterinary Technology Experience Form (http://admissions.purdue.edu/Admissions_Forms/index.html)

o   All applicants must be 18 years of age prior to starting the clinical courses

o   Work experience with a veterinarian (volunteer or paid employment) is strongly recommended

·         BS Degree Transfer Student Applicants (Transfer Students with a AS degree diploma from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology Program)

o   All applicants must be 18 years of age prior to starting the clinical courses

o   Work experience with a veterinarian (volunteer or paid employment) is strongly recommended

Admission Timeline

·         AS and BS Degree Applicants

o   Complete and submit online application by November 15

§  Purdue Undergraduate Application

§  Veterinary Technology Experience Form

o   Competitive applicants will be notified in mid December of an interview date

o   Interviews will be held during the month of January

§  Attendance at the Interview is mandatory

o   Offers of admission are extended in early February

o   Offers of admission must be accepted and appropriate deposit submitted no later than

§  March 15 for June program start

§  May 1 for beginning fall students

§  Failure to do so will result in the offer being rescinded.

 

Admitted Students

·         The offer of admission can be rescinded if the student fails to maintain an acceptable level of academic performance prior to beginning classes in the Veterinary Technology Program or if the student is unable to meet the safety requirements for the Technical Standards.
