SVM AUCTION 2007 RAISES RECORD AMOUNT!
The 16th Annual SVM Auction was a huge success, thanks to the wonderful participation of SVM faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the local and corporate donors. The final total amount raised was $36,397.52, a new record!! This year, the auction proceeds will fund the CAPS program, add additional money to our Scholarship Endowment, enhance the exercise area for the blood donor dogs, and refurbish several additional class composites.
The tremendous success of the event was the result of super teamwork and leadership combined with tons of work from the Auction Committee. A huge thank you goes to the committee members - John Van Vleet, Sandy Amass, Harry and Freida Latshaw, Cindy Lyons, Julie Commons, Jessica Engen, Denise Ottinger, Sue Wood, Kevin Doerr, Deb Cessna, Suzie Inskeep, Lisa Holeman, Gloria Powell, Rose Ponto, Kay Hagen, Ray Buchanan, Kathy Salisbury, Pete Bill, Becky Bierman, Carol Willoughby, Donna Fulkerson, Jill Patterson ’08, Jenny Anderson ’09, Brooke McAfee ’10, and Leighanne Erickson ‘11. Special thanks must go to Bill Synesael for donating his time to be our auctioneer. Also our appreciation goes to Kyle and Beth Clever (and their son, Tyler), to the many student volunteers for their assistance during the auction, and to SCAVMA and the Equine Club for their help. I also send a huge thanks to all of the Business Office Staff and Computer Support Staff who kept the financial end of the auction in order.
Thanks also to the “Stupid Vet Tricks” participants. We were able to raise over $4,500 for the John F. Van Vleet Auction Scholarship. Extra special thanks to Dr. Sandy Amass for sharing her amazing juggling talents! Because we exceeded our auction goal, we were able to add an additional $5,000 from an anonymous donor to the scholarship fund. So this year, we will be able to deposit over $14,000 into the scholarship fund!
I hope everyone had fun, got some bargains, or at least some great new stuff, and that you are looking forward to the 17th SVM Auction next year. Thanks again for a job well done!
Lee Ann Happ Chair, SVM Auction 2007
