Stockton / Class of 1971 Lecture Brings Gorilla Veterinarian to Fall Conference

The Co-Director of the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project (MGVP), Dr. Mike Cranfield gave the Dr. Jack & Naomi Stockton / Class of 1971 Lecture, which is made possible by an endowment established in honor of the late Dean Stockton by members of the Class of ‘71.  Dr. Cranfield shared stories and photos about the international team of veterinarians, the Gorilla Doctors, who provide the critically-endangered mountain gorillas with direct, hands-on care.  The Gorilla Doctors regularly monitor the health of gorilla groups to ensure the early detection of disease and injury, and stage medical interventions when the gorillas’ lives are threatened by human-induced or life-threatening trauma or disease.
