Dr. Jack & Naomi Stockton / Class of '71 Lecture Features AVMA CEO
Purdue Veterinary Medicine alumnus and American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Executive Vice President and CEO W. Ron DeHaven (PU DVM ’75; HDR ’05) returned to West Lafayette, Ind. to give this year’s special Fall Conference lecture named in memory of Dr. Jack and Naomi Stockton by the DVM Class of 1971.
Dr. DeHaven’s talk addressed the topic, “The Times They are A-Changin.’” He emphasized that while the challenges facing the veterinary profession are huge, so are the opportunities. He explained that, from practice economics to educating the future members of the profession, now is the time for us to drive change. Dr. DeHaven’s talk was well received by a room filled with more than 300 attendees
As the AVMA’s CEO, Dr. DeHaven serves the organization’s more than 81,500 members as they work to meet the challenges of improving both human and animal health in the 21st century. The Dr. Jack & Naomi Stockton Lecture began in 2001 and annually brings speakers to the university as part of the PVM Fall Conference to address students, faculty, alumni and members of the veterinary profession.
