Conference Attendees Track with Pets for People
A new twist in this year's PVM Fall Conference line-up involved special presentations and a learning activity centered on the Pets for People Club. The "Community Service Track" on Friday (9/23) of the Conference began with a seminar on the human-animal bond by Dr. Alan Beck, Dorothy N. McAllister professor of animal ecology and director of the Center for the Human Animal Bond. The students in Pets for People brought their animal companions to the Lynn Hall courtyard for a "meet and greet" with the conference attendees. In the afternoon, the Pets for People volunteers gave the conference-goers a first-hand look at how the pets positively affect nursing home residents during an actual visit to Heritage Health Care in Lafayette.
