PVM and Czech Veterinary School Renew Pact
A longstanding relationship between the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno in the Czech Republic will continue under terms of a Letter of Intent that was signed at a special ceremony during the PVM Fall Conference. Dean Willie Reed joined Dr. Alois Necas, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Brno for the event, where they inked their signatures on the new agreement, which calls for both schools to continue to promote international academic cooperation through:
- Exchange of materials in education and research, publications, and academic information;
- Exchange of faculty and research scholars;
- Exchange of students;
- Joint research and meetings for education and research; and,
- Technical assistance.
Purdue Veterinary Medicine and the Brno University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences have had a cooperative relationship since 1998. Each year Purdue has hosted a group of veterinary students from Brno and for the last two years a group of Purdue veterinary students has visited Brno as part of a formal study abroad program in exotic animal medicine. There have also been many productive faculty exchanges during that time.
The ceremony was part of the World Veterinary Year track at the conference, in which Dr. Necas and Dr. Jiri Smola, Head of the Ruminant and Swine Clinic at Brno participated as speakers.
